Waxing Instructions

WAXING INSTRUCTIONS

Silky smooth skin is achieved by waxing, leaving your skin looking younger, lighter, and brighter. Eyebrow design does not just leave a person looking manicured, but it enhances the very windows to the soul.

The common misconception regarding facial waxing is that if you wax your face, you will grow darker, thicker hair. This is an old wives’ tale. The disappointing truth is that as women age, they normally will lose their brow hair and acquire darker and thicker hair on the lower part of their face. Waxed hair re-grows baby soft and stubble-free.

While waxing is regularly and commonly done without any adverse reaction, we provide the following instructions to keep your skin extra safe.

The colleenelizabeth team prides themselves on a safe, sanitary and expert skin experience. Therefore, for those treatments where indicated, we wear gloves. We do not dip soiled spatulas into products or wax tubs.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS – PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING A WAXING APPOINTMENT:

To prevent scabbing or other adverse reactions after a wax:

Please discontinue use of Retin-A (or any other rapid exfoliant) prior to and after your treatment. Discontinue use of Accutane 6 months prior to treatment. Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds. Avoid all home exfoliants and professional body exfoliation treatments.

To prevent skin infection or other adverse reactions after a wax:

Avoid cardiovascular activity, swimming pools, hot tubs or hot springs, natural mud baths, and the ocean. Also avoid direct skin to skin contact with pets and others for the first 24 hours.

To prevent break-outs or other adverse reactions after a wax:

For women, break-outs or other adverse reactions may occur during hormonal cycles including menopause, pregnancy, as well as PMS through the end of ovulation. To help prevent break-outs post-waxing, avoid use of common grade products (make-up, sunscreen, and cosmetics) products and cardiovascular exercise. Break-outs or adverse reactions may occur after body waxing treatments on the back, buttocks, chest, and less commonly on the arms or back of the legs.

To prevent skin rashes or other adverse reactions after a wax:

Avoid using scented or fragranced products on the treatment area. Medications, especially antibiotics, can cause skin rashes. Additionally, waxing during times of hormonal fluctuation, such as PMS or ovulation, can result in skin rashes.
